Fire Safety/Prevention Onanole Fire Department

Fire Safety/Prevention Onanole Fire Department

There are many things that are so important to revisit and discuss in one’s home and this one tops the list for sure.

On, October 19th, the Onanole Fire Department paid Onanole School a Visit!   We were happy to have our former student alumni, Charles McMillan with the rest of the Fire Department here on such a beautiful day.

The Department created 5 stations that our Spirit Groups took part in.  The stations consisted of the following:

  • Fire hose
  • Fire Safety talk
  • Thermal Camera Demo
  • Smoke Trailer
  • Escape Plan

All stations were very informative and interesting.  Of course, students had numerous questions and absolutely loved the Fire Hose station…who wouldn’t?!

Fire Safety Talk and Escape Plan stations were the most important which contained life saving information and practices that all students should know in case of a fire.

DO YOU HAVE AN ESCAPE PLAN AND MEETING PLACE?  DO YOU CHECK AND TEST YOUR SMOKE DETECTORS MONTHLY?

Having these conversations, practicing the different scenarios, and testing your alarms in your household are so important.  Planning and prevention can save a life.

We would like to thank the Onanole Fire Department for coming this day to ignite, no pun intended, conversations amongst our classrooms and into our homes.
